Palestine Charge d’Affaires Urges Tanzanian Media to Expose Ongoing Atrocities

DAR ES SALAAM, Thursday, 22 January 2026 — The Charge d’Affaires of the State of Palestine to Tanzania, His Excellency Mr. Salim Siam, today paid a visit to the offices of The Guardian newspaper in Mikocheni, Dar es Salaam, where he held discussions with editors and management of The Guardian and Nipashe, aimed at strengthening cooperation and ensuring accurate and official reporting on the situation in Palestine.

Speaking during the meeting, Mr. Salim said the engagement with the media was intended to help convey reliable information to Tanzanians about the attrocities and violations faced by the Palestinians under the Israeli  apartheid occupation authority. He was received by Mr. Jackson Paulo, Deputy General Manager, currently in charge of all company operations, who served as the principal host during the meeting. Mr. Salim briefed the editors and management on the situation in Palestine, particularly in Gaza and the West Bank, tracing the roots of the conflict from 1948 to the ongoing genocide carried out by the Israeli occupation army that began in October 2023.

“Israel was created on a lake of blood By terrorism ,When Israel was established, more than 500 Palestinian towns and villages were destroyed, 800000 hundred thousand of Palestinians were forcibly displaced from their homes which were destroyed. Massacres, genocide and ethnic cleansing  were committed against them.” Mr. Salim Siam

Mr. Salim described the dire humanitarian conditions currently affecting Gaza, citing severe shortages of basic social services, food, medical supplies and shelter, as well as the rising number of child deaths due to extreme cold and harsh weather. He also highlighted the scale of destruction caused by Israeli attacks, noting that about 95 percent of residential areas in Gaza have been destroyed, including houses, buildings, hospitals, schools/universities, clinics, churches, mosques.

“As we know Gaza, it is part of Palestine which has been under occupation since 1967. It is the most populated place in the world…… it is very congested area, full of refugees camps, wherever a bomb is droped, definitely tens or hundreds of people are killed in one single hit or shot, imagine when israel is conducting this genocidal war from 2023 until today how many people were killed and injured?” Mr. Salim Siam

In addition, Mr. Salim urged Tanzanians to remain vigilant and closely follow international politics, emphasizing that global political decisions directly shape and influence domestic affairs within countries. He strongly condemned Israel’s announcement recognizing Somaliland, describing the move as a violation of international law and established principles governing relations between states. According to Mr. Salim, Israel’s broader objective is to ensure instability among nations in order to advance what he described as its dangerous political agenda and interests. Among them, the dangerous aim of displacing Palestinian people from gaza to Somaliland.

He further criticized what he termed the deception surrounding the ceasefire, stating that the situation in Palestine remains fragile and volatile, with many Palestinians having been killed even during the ceasefire period. Mr. Salim also pointed to the role of powerful nations, particularly the United States, accusing them of providing political, military, and diplomatic backing that encourage Israel to continue what he described as atrocities against the Palestinian people.

He further called on Tanzanian media houses to play an active role in exposing the situation on the ground, emphasizing that the Palestinian mission remains open and available to provide verified information, clarifications, and access to official updates whenever required.

During the meeting, His Excellency Salim Siam officially handed over an updated document regarding the Situation in Palestine which outlined the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the occupied Palestinian Land.

He said in Gaza humanitarian situation has reached catastrophic levels which need urgent intervation from the international community, to apply pressure on the Israeli occupation power to allow the  international humanitarian aid agencies to  operate in occupied Palestine to save lives of the Palestinian people in Gaza who are suffering from diseases, malnutrition and deaths, especially infants death due to low body temperature (hypothermia) and help those who need medical evacuation and health care.
