ISRAEL CUT OFF COMMUNICATIONS IN GAZA TO HIDE THE CRUELTY THEY ARE COMMITTING

On October 28, 2023, the organization "Human Rights Watch," dedicated to defending human rights, issued a warning through its official website, stating that the disruption of communications and the internet in the Gaza Strip, which is under intense Israeli bombardment, could serve as a "cover for mass atrocities."

Deborah Brown, a representative of this international organization, said in a statement released on Saturday that the information blackout could act as a "cover for mass atrocities and contribute to escaping accountability for human rights violations."

Amnesty International, on the other hand, expressed concern about losing contact with its staff in Gaza and noted that this communication outage would make it even more challenging to obtain essential information and evidence related to human rights violations and war crimes against Palestinian civilians in Gaza, as well as directly listening to those who suffer these violations.

"Net Blocks," a service responsible for monitoring internet connectivity, reported a "communication collapse in the Gaza Strip."

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), several UN agencies lost contact with their teams in Gaza.

OCHA's Humanitarian Coordinator, Lynn Hastings, emphasized that humanitarian operations and hospital activities "cannot continue without communications."

The Palestinian Red Crescent also announced on its Twitter (X) that it had lost contact with its operations center and all its teams in the Gaza Strip due to the Israeli authorities' disruption of wireless, cellular, and internet communications. This disruption affects the central emergency number 101 and hinders ambulance access to the injured amid ongoing airstrikes, expressing "deep concern" about doctors' ability to continue providing care under these circumstances, as well as the safety of its staff.
