Executive Committee of PLO holds meeting chaired by President Abbas, discuss grave threats to Palestinian cause

(WAFA) - The Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) held a meeting tonight chaired by the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas.

In his speech during the meeting, the president stressed the grave threat to the Palestinian national cause due to the occupation's ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people throughout the occupied Palestinian Territory, especially the ongoing policy of genocide and systematic destruction in the Gaza Strip that has been ongoing for nine consecutive months.

The president said the Israeli destruction of homes, schools, colleges, hospitals and places of worship, as well as the daily shelling and mass massacres, are aimed at implementing the policy of displacement against Palestinians, which coincides with the occupation's restrictions imposed on villages, camps and cities in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, along the ongoing colonial expansion, land appropriation, daily military incursions and detentions and the policy of daily killing.

President Abbas also discussed Israel’s theft and piracy of Palestinian clearance funds and the confiscation of these Palestinian funds to undermine the status of the Palestinian National Authority, consistent with the statements made by the occupation government to dismantle the PA, re-impose the occupation and settler colonialism and liquidate the rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The president affirmed adherence to Palestinian unity and an end to the division, praising the Chinese role in support of the Palestinian people and their cause, and the positions of all states that have undertaken efforts to achieve that.

The President praised the international recognition of the Palestinian state and the role of international institutions, especially the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the International Criminal Court (ICC), the Human Rights Council and the United Nations, in pursuing and putting a stop to the crimes of the occupation.

The PLO Executive Committee emphasized during the meeting the importance of concerted efforts to stop the genocide committed against the Palestinian people, stressing the steadfastness of Palestinians and their resistance to the strategic objectives of the occupation, particularly the displacement of Palestinians and the liquidation of their rights and principles embodied by the PLO; the sole and legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.

The Committee underlined the need to resist and confront the occupation practices, including confronting the colonial gangs attacking Palestinians in the streets, villages and towns located near illegal colonies, stressing the importance of strengthening the role of protection committees to defend the Palestinian people.

The Executive Committee said the decisions of the occupation government and the statements of the colonial settler; the so-called Israeli Minister of Finance, Bezalel Smotrich, in which he announced Israel’s sovereignty over the occupied territory, and legalized colonial outposts and the re-colonization of the North of the West Bank in a systematic effort to achieve these rejected goals, together with attempts to talk about post-war plans are all meant to achieve two main goals; the separation of the Gaza Strip to undermine the establishment of a Palestinian state and deal a blow to the representation of the Palestinian people within the PLO.

The Executive Committee affirmed its high appreciation of the role of China and its efforts to end the division and restore national unity, in addition to its eagerness to call for a national dialogue under its auspices to unify the Palestinian position within the framework of the Palestine Liberation Organization; the legitimate and sole representative of the Palestinian people.

The Executive Committee further expressed its high appreciation for the peoples of the world, especially the movement of university students at most of the world's universities, demanding an end to the aggression, genocide and colonial occupation.

The Committee also paid tribute to all the countries that recognized the State of Palestine, appreciating the role of South Africa in approaching the International Court of Justice, and the joining of many countries in its genocide case against Israel at ICJ, which the occupation refuses to abide by and comply with its decisions along with the decisions of the UN Security Council and General Assembly to stop the genocide, open crossings and introduce medical, food and humanitarian aid in light of the siege imposed by the occupation on the Gaza Strip's crossings to starve the Palestinian people.

The Executive Committee stressed the importance of taking decisions by the international community to impose sanctions, as well as boycott and prosecute the occupation to suppress the continuation of these crimes and open warfare, which has been ongoing for the ninth month in partnership with the US administration.

The Committee affirmed the strengthening of the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and their adherence to their rights and land and pointed out that male and female Palestinian detainees are subjected to the most horrific campaign of abuse, torture, murder and forced disappearance, including sexual harassment and rape.

It highlighted what the "heroic" detainees from the Gaza Strip are exposed to, including being detained by thousands, left to an unknown fate and placed in secret detention centers.

The Committee stressed that this requires all international, legal and humanitarian institutions to carry out their role in criminalizing the occupation and holding it accountable for its crimes, for which the committee believed it will not be held accountable because of its partnership with the United States; which uses its veto and provides support for the continuation of these crimes.

The Committee affirmed that it will continue efforts with all parties of the international community and its institutions to stop these escalating crimes and achieve the rights of the Palestinian people to freedom, independence and return, and the establishment of a Palestinian state, with Jerusalem as its capital.

The committee also affirmed that the Palestinian people and their leadership will remain committed to the rights, principles and sole representation of the people; the Palestine Liberation Organization; which is the most important achievement as a leader of the struggle and resistance of the Palestinian people for freedom and independence.

The Executive Committee called on the masses of the Palestinian people and all Palestinian factions to unite their efforts in confronting these dangers, affirming its rejection of the American-Israeli project of the so-called (the day after), and its commitment to ending the occupation of the State of Palestine and realizing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to freedom, independence and return.

The Committee underscored the ongoing work to strengthen the internal front through serious dialogue between the components and segments of Palestinian society, including the governmental sectors, security, the private sector, civil society and various trade union federations, to preserve the Palestinian people and their political, diplomatic and legal achievements, as well as the Palestinian national project and its national institutions.

The Committee also emphasized working to strengthen the relationship with Palestinian communities abroad; either in refugee camps or the diaspora, to strengthen their connection to their identity and national affiliation, appreciating their patriotic role in mobilizing the support of people around the world to recognize the State of Palestine, end the occupation and achieve freedom and independence.
